MyLegacy-Treasures LLC Auctions 0506 OPL3 Auction Tpl RUSSIAN EMERALD Specimen Facet Rough 15.58cts 15.8x12.8 Click Images to Enlarge Check Your Monitor Calibration for Accurate Image Colors! Item Description RUSSIAN EMERALD Specimen Facet Rough 15.58cts 15.8x12.8x9.8 mm Russian Emerald 992FR206013 - RUSSIAN EMERALD Specimen Facet Rough 15.58cts 15.8x12.8x9.8 mm Features-Details - RUSSIAN EMERALD Specimen Facet Rough 15.58cts 15.8x12.8x9.8 mm DESCRIPTION Russian Emerald Facet Rough/Specimen from our Personal Collection - The southern Range of the Ural Mountains of Russia contain pegmatites bearing a variety of precious gemstones: emeralds, alexandrite, aquamarine, amethyst, phenakite, chrysoberyl, topaz, quartz and more. Emeralds were discovered in 1830 about 50 miles east of Ekaterinburg. Czar Nicholas decreed that all emeralds mined from these deposits would be property of the Russian Crown. While there have been some exceptions, most larger sized emerald crystals are not suitable for use as gemstones because of inclusions of mica and other pegmatite minerals. Most emerald 'rough' from this locality does not exhibit the classic crystal form 'habit' of a beryl shape as we see from other localities around the world. This piece of RUSSIAN EMERALD shows an excellent beryl crystal habit and would make an excellent thumbnail specimen for the collector. As a facetor, getting gemstone facet rough from world famous localities is nearly impossible. The chance to make a faceted gemstone for a personal collection or very, very special jewelry item for a loved one is just as strong a desire as owning a specimen is to the mineral collector. This RUSSIAN EMERALD is one of a few pieces that were acquired over a decade ago and placed in our 'facet rough collection' for cutting when we had more time. We facet gemstones for the love of doing it. However, that 'more time' hasn't occurred yet. And we have decided to let this gem rough get into the hands of an active gem cutter or specimen collector. Item Offered This RUSSIAN EMERALD Facet Rough has NOT been 'oiled' by us or, to our knowledge, by others. The colors and tones in our photos are as seen with daylight color balance lighting and tungsten indoor illumination - as accurate as we can reasonably reproduce. The rough specimen should look in your hands like these photos display it. We Try to show you the 'personality & character' of every Gem, Jewelry & Collectible Item we sell without artificially enhancing the contrast, tonality or color saturation beyond what you will see with similar lighting once it is in your hands. (Gemstones often look dramatically different in different colors of light.) The piece measures 15.8x12.8x9.8 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm) and weighs 15.58 carats. The general 'rule of thumb' in facet rough is 10% productivity - a 10 carat piece of good quality rough might yield a good quality 1 carat gemstone. This rough should be more productive than 10% because emeralds are famous for their 'jardines' or gardens of inclusions which are a 'fingerprint' telling the gemologist the mine that was the source of a particular emerald gemstone. We expect that faceted or cabochon gemstones cut from this rough will be translucent. Rarity, General Availability, Market Value On occasion you may see Russian Emerald cut stones offered for sale. Russian Emerald Specimens and Facet Rough are extremely rare. We don't think you will find many Russian Emerald rough offerings during a casual internet search of eBay or the world gemstone markets. The value of mineral specimens, gemstones & meteorites depends upon the qualities of that specific item, its general rarity and the rarity of materials from that locality. Gemstone Rough represents only a small fraction of all the material present in a gem-bearing location, somewhere between 1 in 1,000 to 1 in 1,000,000. When We Learn of the Unusual, Rare or Closed Site Specimens, We will Offer Them to the World through eBay and our Websites. GEMSTONE TYPE EMERALD, var. Beryl - natural (untreated) ORIGIN - LOCATION Russia, Ural Mountains near Ekaterinburg SIZE 15.8x12.8x9.8 mm (25.4 mm = 1 inch) Carat Weight 15.58 Carats SIZE - WEIGHT - SHAPE All sizes are listed in millimeters (25.4 mm = 1 inch, 12 mm = 1/2 inch, 6 mm = 1/4 inch), just like all other gemstones and the jewelry mountings for them. MLT PHOTOGRAPHING Gemstones, Specimens, Rough Photographing Gemstones, Mineral Specimens and Rough is difficult. We Try to show you the 'personality & character' of each item without artificially enhancing the contrast, tonality or color saturation beyond what you will see with similar lighting once it is in your hands. Our photos depict these items to the best of our ability as you would see them in direct sunlight or with a bright tungsten light 12"~16" from the item. Our camera system and computer graphics hardware/software are calibrated for accuracy. Your computer monitor/graphics card/viewing software may show slightly different image coloration or quality than what we carefully created for this MLT listing. The photos may not depict these items at their individual best. It is our desire that the item be 'better' in your hands than depicted or described, not less. view MyLegacy-Treasures other auctions below: view MyLegacy-Treasures Product Showcase NOW Like its Owner, Every Opal is Unique and One-of-a-Kind MyLegacy-Treasures for Opals and Much More MyLegacy-Treasures Hand Selects EVERY Opal, Gemstone and Jewelry Item We Sell.
