Description

ANTIQUE TRADE BEADS THIS AUCTION IS FOR ONE BEAD. If there are other designers out there, and you're designing a specific piece, you can buy as many or as few as you like. I'm starting with 10 matched beads, and the price IS PER BEAD. Sometimes I look for three beads for a bracelet, then another pair for earrings, or maybe 5 for a necklace. You can buy as few as one bead from the photo, or the whole lot of these wonderful antique trade beads. Collectible and rare. BLACK GLASS with white squiggled GLASS TRAILING or TRAILS, middle has ORANGE GOLD BAND with FINE RED LINE IN CENTER. THESE ARE KNOWN AS FANCIES. SOMETIMES CALLED WEDDING CAKE BEADS FOR THEIR RICH DESIGNS. THESE COST MORE THAN THE USUAL BLACK SKUNKS and THESE ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION, NO CHIPS OR CRACKS!!! Authentic black core. Exterior layer has very striking designs! Beads range in size from 12mm to 14 mm long by 12mm in diameter (about 1/2 inch). In very good condition considering these are more than 100 years old. From my private collection, from the good stuff that I stashed away. Rare pattern, strands of these fancy trade beads can easily run several hundred dollars or more VERY HANDSOME AND COLLECTIBLE BEADS INDEED! This type of bead was made by the Venetians, who were quite secretive about their hot glass bead making techniques. Made in the 1800s. Large hole is wide enough to fit a fine cord through. These beads were traded like currency on several continents, in Africa they were traded for spices and gold. In North American, these were brought by the Hudson Bay company, who chartered ships from England and their mountain men took them along the Lewis & Clarke expedition trade routes and traded them with Native American Indian tribes. A nice addition to your beads collection. Will also make great ethnic or tribal inspired jewelry, also very nice to have if you like to collect antique beads! AGAIN, price is PER SINGLE BEAD, just select how many you'd like to buy where it says "QUANTITY." To find out more information on trade beads please see BEADS OF THE WORLD (Francis). Payment Information: Paypal payments should be sent to: terribooks@anet.net. Money orders, checks should be sent to: T. Bingham, 8621 Lilienthal Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90045.   [ Auctions | eBay Store | Feedback | Me Page | E-Mail ][ © 2008 Terrisbooks
