ANTIQUE TRADE BEAD Handmade, this wound bead is made from solid black glass. The outside of these has both brick red and saffron yellow stripes made from glass. This is a two layer glass bead in nice oval tube shape. I hardly ever see them in this pattern or design anymore, it's rare and collectible for sure. Probably made for the American market and traded through the Hudson Bay Company and mountain men to Native American Indians along the trade routes established by the Louis and Clarke expedition. These beads were traded as currency to Native American Indian and Africa tribes in the 1800s til the turn of the 19th century. Medium sized bead, 10 x 15 mm wide (a tad longer than half an inch). Fairly wide hole so easy to string on a fine cord or leather sinew. Would make nice ethnic jewelry or nice specimen to add to your own bead collection! Irreplaceable. You get the exact bead shown in photo! Free shipping! Payment Information: Paypal payments should be sent to: terribooks@anet.net. Money orders, checks should be sent to: T. Bingham, 8621 Lilienthal Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90045. [ Auctions | eBay Store | Feedback | Me Page | E-Mail ][ © 2008 Terrisbooks
