WARNING !  This crystal may ROCK YOUR WORLD !   I remember twenty years ago when I was young and first laid eyes on these " wilkes county jewels ". It ruined me ! ! ! It was a whirl-wind inside of my mind . Something inside of me just snapped ( let's go crazy -- let's go nuts ) .    When I returned home  from visiting the site I couldn't shake it off of me . I went home  & laid down , but when I closed my eyes all I could see was a vision of those purple gems quietly resting , jutting this way & that  and patiently waiting .  I answered their call ( in a big way ) .  WILL YOU ?   You may have read about me digging at jxr in the 06 Rock & Gem magazine , or The Mineralogical Record magazine , or the lapidary Journal , or the G.I.A. 's  "Gems and Gemology".   I am also to be seen on the TRAVEL CHANNEL cash and treasures  'amethyst' epsiode which should re-air in April .The Wilkes Co. amethyst site is located in Northwest Wilkes county , Georgia , between the communities of Rayle and Tignall in an area known as Jackson's Crossroads ( abbreviated to " JXR" ) .        IN 1920 Tiffanny Jewelers mined for amethyst near the site  and around 1970 some guys digging a hole to hide moonshine also made a discovery of amethyst near the area.   In approx. 1988 the area was clearcut logged and a fellow by the name of Plemmons rambled across the clearing and discovered excellant gemmy deep purple amethyst.   As the pine thicket grew up , deep in the woods along a winding path , people dug for the incredible specimens.   Some had permission but most did not .    As is typicall with hand dug sites , a depth of aprox. 9  feet was reached by those that dug .   A mere scraping of the surface , but considering it was hand dug it was an amazing feat of human strength , determination , and perseverance .  In the year 2000 I  was granted  permission to bring a small machine to dig. As time went on and the property  changed hands I was able to bring progressively  larger and powerfull equipment to bear  . Although  I graded the area flat , boulders remain near the surface and just under it . These boulders contain vugs that are druse lined and some have gemmy deep purple amethyst .  The quality of these are sometimes of  incredible water clear clarity and of a deep purple colour that is quite unique .   The quality of these specimens meet or beat any other American amethyst . This site offers world-class amethyst crystals that are very brightly faced outwardly and range from pale lavender, to a deep purple. My past finds  finds have yielded extremely dark xls that appear black, but hold them to the light and they are eye clean facet grade deep purple and sometimes are flawless with no veils or inclusions. Rarely, enhydro's are found and these make striking specimens because they are so clear that the bubble is usually very visible. Most people consider Georgia amethyst to be very light in color and generally not very good. This is usually the case!  However , my discovery has changed a lot of peoples minds ! The JXR material that I have dug dugt hese last  few year sbeats all known past finds in Georgia and most probably the South Eastern U.S., when every factor is considered. The crystals are sharp and well defined. Externally, the crystal faces are of the highest lustre with peculiar growth hillocks and wavy designs that can only be seen when oriented at the right angle to reflect these microscopic surface imperfections. Internally, the material is of the most amazing colour and highest-grade faceting material. .  This material is definitely world class , and a lot of people think , that it is the best material in the world.   You can click the rotating cube to freeze and expand the pictures. These photos show me at work & play , digging for fun & profit. Recently the Travel Channel came out to film one of my digs . aired on February 20 & 24th & will repeat sometime in december or january on the travel channel, on the “ Cash and Treasures " amethyst episode . I dig in Georgia , South Carolina , & Arkansas , most of the crystals I sell & often list items from them here on eBay as well as in my rock shop in Georgia . I am constantly buying and selling all types of mineral specimens , facet rough , e.t.c. as well as always buying and selling crystal mines .  Please do check out my other items in my eBay stores as I have a variety & often start them out at only $1. To be sure of not missing a hot deal , please add me as a favorite seller. No matter if it is a five dollar specimen or a five hundred dollar specimen , the recipients have usually  left glowing feedback……………….you should check my feedback and see for yourself what people are saying. Questions ?Don’t hesitate to ask ! Color photography provided with a Kodak dx6490  or a fuji s7000 both of  which have excellent natural color rendering and representation . I never alter the color or photoshop to sweeten the color to make the stone look better than it does in real life., especially in light or pastel colors , the specimen looks much better in person & with more color than the photo suggests ! overseas shipping : $12 first item then $1 each additional item . Check each individual add for exact shipping as it varies . Canada usually qualifies for a discount and I may give additional discounts based on my whim  , mood , or fancy .   If your interested in a discount , please inquire .  There is nothing I can do about the $11 initiall fee , however, at my discretion I may reduce the price on shipping or even offer free shipping on extra small items , depending on the final ending price .  Paypal usually gets your item sent out same day or next ( unless I am on a digging trip ) . Tracking number always provided and you will usually receive an email notifying you of the pending shipment & with tracking number - please assume that the item is shipped if you get an email saying a label was created , even though tracking info may not indicate actual shipping . Please allow 10 days after paying to recieve your item. Please refrain from enquiring  about your item  for at least a week .  I ship as fast as possible .    Insurance optional as I  can’t be responsible of loss , theft or damage after the package is in the postal services hands and subsequently , delivered to your doorstep or mailbox . I have gotten negatives before about this .  This is the rule and it is what I go by after shipping your item. , Domestic shipping :  We love to combine shipping , usually first item is $4 then each additional item is only $1 more . You’ll never pay over $10 because I put things in a flat rate box once a certain postage total is reached. To get the combined rate on shipping you MUST make one payment for all your mulitple items. Most every item is gauranteed with a money back satisfaction gaurantee , except where expressly excluded .   The bottom line :  I do my best to provide numerous big clear pictures and an accurate written description  and offer timely shipping .    Click to View Image Album Click to View Image Album Click to View Image Album Click to View Image Album Click to View Image Album Click to View Image Album Payment Back to Top       I accept the following forms of payment: PayPal Shipping & Handling Back to Top   US Shipping$0.00 USPS First-Class Mail®   International Shipping$12.00 USPS Priority Mail International     More than just a pretty picture.
