Delicate Lotus flower patterns engraved in the end caps combined with patterned accent band representing the elements of the earth and sea gives the Lotus pen a style of its own. Hand-cast engraved insets on the end caps and center bands are plated in Black Titanium and are surrounded by a Satin Rhodium finish. The fountain pen features a top quality, German-made 22k gold and rhodium plated nib with genuine iridium point for smooth writing and ependable ink flow. The material is a beautiful M3 Damascus Metal. It has been finished and polished by hand to a high luster. Damascus steel is a hot-forged steel used in Middle Eastern swordmaking from about 1100 to 1700AD. Damascus swords were of legendary sharpness and strength, and were apocryphally claimed to be able to cut through lesser quality European swords and even rock. Damascus swords often had an obvious patterned texture on their surface due to the high carbon content and the folding and hammering of the blade. True Damascus is very expensive costing thousands of dollars for a very small amount. M3 Damascus shares the same visual charateristics as the original for a fraction of the price In the tradition of fine desk pens, the Lotus pen is not designed for use with the cap attached to the pen. It is perfectly balanced and writes effortlessly. The Lotus pen accepts standard fountain pen cartridge refills. They are available at most office supply stores. An ink converter for bottled inks is also included. If you need additional refills, I have a small supply available for purchase. All pens are handcraft by me in my workshop. The pen you see in the listing is the pen you will receive. There are more than 20 steps involved in making a finished pen. I use more than forty different types of woods and materials from around the world. This pen was made from a solid piece of wood or material with the grain oriented to match between the two barrels of the pen. It was turned by hand on a lathe. Your Lotus pen will be presented in its own wooden box with velvet lining. With daily use, your pen will darken. To clean and restore the gloss, simply buff with a high quality furniture wax. I use Renaissance wax. My pens are a joy to collect and also make excellent gifts. Item must be paid for within 7 business days from the item end date, unless other arrangements have been made, or item will be relisted and possible negative feedback left. I prefer payment by paypal, but I also accept money orders and cashier's checks. Please see item details for shipping ratesDiscounts are available for multiple ordersContact MeThank you in advance for your bid. All the pens and wood crafts you see listed were created by me in my private workshop and studio. Please feel free to look at my other items.
