KELLAR MAGIC POSTER LEVITATION WITH WOMAN 1894The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, high-quality reproduction print of an 1894 poster for one of the histories’ greatest magicians, Kellar. This is entitled “Levitation”. As are most of Kellar’s posters, this is simple, using stark images and designed to create an almost eerie image. He is levitating a young woman and light-like bolts appear to come from his hands. Kellar, a Mason, was considered a master of levitation. Heinrich Keller enjoyed a reputation as the Dean of American Magicians. He was born in Erie Pennsylvania in 1849. When he blew a hole in the drugstore where he was apprenticed, Kellar ran away from home. An early magic show sealed his fate. He frequently was a business manager for magicians while he learned their techniques. It was obviously successful because he soon had a worldwide reputation. He specialized in levitation tricks. He retired in 1908 and passed his wand (quite literally) to Howard Thurston. Among the many people he influenced was Harry Houdini. Houdini had a last performance with Thurston as a benefit for families of the Antilles. Over 6000 people saw that performance. This print is on a high-quality 100# glossy text paper. The poster measures 10 1/2” (w) x 14 3/4” (h). It has a small border to allow for framing.
