Up for auction is a new print of a turn-of-the century poster for Harry Houdini, considered by many to be the greatest magician of all times. If not the greatest magician, Houdini was one of the greatest promoters. This poster is known as the “King of Card’s†poster. The poster features a headshot of a very young looking Houdini (If, as suspected, this poster is from 1895, he would have been just 21). Above him a panel that shows him with cards in one hand and a pyramid on his other arm. An additional panel shows two arms and hands with cards. The shirtsleeves are rolled up on the arms showing that Houdini has nothing up his sleeves. The headline reads: Harry Houdini, King of Cards. Houdini was always looking for ways to improve his act. He soon moved to handcuff and escapes. Eventually, Houdini promoted an offer to pay one hundred dollars to any person who could successfully shackle him. Not once did he ever have to pay. This is a must have poster for collectors of magic memorabilia and show memorabilia or is a perfect gift for magic lovers of all ages. This print is on a quality 100# high glossy text paper.
