Description

Thank you for viewing my auction. I have been collecting for almost 50 years and purchased all my items from the most reputable sources but mostly at auction in London. The majority of purchases were made in the 1960's-80's when good things were available on a regular basis. I will be selling over 1000 items in the next few months so be sure to bookmark the Sunnytampa seller page as I will be adding rare and interesting items on a regular basis. Read our feedback and bid with confidence. Roman glass artisans made a great many objects.  The technology of glass crafting had advanced enormously with the Romans and the boom was like the introduction of plastic in the 1950's.   After making the requirements of the day, small left over pieces of semi molten glass were sometimes squeezed into simple forms and pierced with a hole to be worn as pendants.  This was the very bottom of the jewelry chain and most often were given to slaves who had no ability otherwise to purchase such things.  They were deliberately very low key-made of dark unpretentious colors and very simply shaped.  This is such a pendant dating to about 200 BC.  It is 0.34" (8.7 mm) long, made of very dark red glass and simply shaped and faceted with the glass maker's paddle.   Condition is as shown and indicative of having been buried, probably in a grave.  6A10 (2) r   Shipping is free Worldwide with the purchase of this item.
