This 16'' square pillow is about 1920 vintage. I bought this at an estate sale and was told it's that old and it does look about right. The corners are frayed and on one I could see some fiberfill stuffing, obviously not available 80 years ago. Someone probably re-stuffed this in recent years. The dove and flowers are a kind of yarn chenille. The loops were made with a punch needle like you'd use for making a rug. Over the years the yarns have faded on top. You can see much more vivid colors when you spread the loops apart. The cotton velvet also has worn and faded in the center but its nap feels soft. I think the antique appearance is just great.
